Set in the Depression-era South, three escaped convicts embark on a string of small-town bank robberies. Bowie, the youngest of the group, falls in love with Keechie, the daughter of a gas station owner who helps hide the men. As the gang’s criminal lifestyle becomes increasingly dangerous and the law closes in, Bowie and Keechie struggle to maintain their romance against the backdrop of their inevitable fate.
